Shooting Investigation

On 7/18/15 at approximately 11:00 pm, Deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting complaint. The location of the shooting was near the area of Green Road and Yearling Lane in Milton.

According to witness accounts, there were several individuals’ deer hunting in this area when a confrontation began between the group of hunters and another individual. At one point during the confrontation, a gun was pointed at the group of hunters when a shot was heard. The individual who was pointing the gun at the group was shot with a high powered rifle during the incident. The victim was transported to an area hospital via helicopter.

At this time, the victim remains in the hospital where they are recovering from a gunshot wound. The exact condition is not known at this time. Detectives with the Santa Rosa County Sheriffs are actively working this investigation. The individual who shot the victim was identified and is being questioned about the incident.
