Chumuckla graduate awarded scholarship from Ascend
PENSACOLA, FLA. – June 25, 2015 – Katie Noble of Chumuckla has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Ascend Cares Foundation.
Noble, 18, graduated from Milton High School and will use the money to study special education at the University of West Florida in the fall semester.
The Ascend Cares Foundation, the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization managed and funded by Ascend Performance Materials, awarded five scholarships to children of their employees in Alabama, Florida and Texas this month. Applicants were required to have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average and have demonstrated a record of community service.
At Milton High School, Noble was a member of the Beta Club, the Class Board, the Student Government Association, the National Honor Society and the Science Honor Society. Outside of school, Noble was an active volunteer with Friendship Baptist Church in Milton. She also raised money for Relay for Life and volunteered at the Bay Area Food Bank in Milton.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to invest in bright young minds of students like Katie,” said Marianne Cone, executive director of the Ascend Cares Foundation. “Our scholarship committee was very impressed with her hard work in school and commitment to her community.”
Noble’s parents are Sarah and Chris Noble. Chris Noble works as a nylon pilot plant lead operator at the Ascend Performance Materials plant in Pensacola.
Ascend Performance Materials is one of the world’s leading producers of chemicals and nylon resin. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company has approximately 3,500 full-time and contract personnel, including 1,200 in Pensacola.
