Royals advance/ Jaguars come up short

Last night’s playoff games featuring Jay hosting Chipley and Central traveling to Sneads offered pitching and defensive minded fans a night of enjoyment. Both games were completed in under an hour and a half, respectively, and were full of strikeouts, double plays, and lots and lots of defensive drama.

The Royals will be advancing to the state final four with their win over Chipley last night, 2-1. With Destiny Herring on the mound, Chipley never smelled a run until the top of the seventh. But the late rally came up short for the Chipley Tigers as they left two stranded on base as the Royals got the final out. With the win, the Lady Royals will be leaving to travel to Vero Beach, FL for another chance to win a state championship. Gametime will be on Wednesday, TBA . Their opponent are the Sneads Pirates, who defeated Central last night.

That game had even more strikeouts than the Jay/Chipley game. Central’s pitching gave up only 3 hits, but their bats never could get going as both teams struggled against great pitching. The Jaguars lost 1-0.

Check back all throughout the week for updates on game times and news from the state final four.
