4/15 Prep Updates: Royals advance in district softball

(Click to open up and see full article.)

The wet weather has certainly made things difficult this week in our local softball district tournaments, forcing teams to play on a Wednesday night which hardly ever happens. Yesterday’s rains did ease up enough to get some important and good games in.

SOFTBALL

@ Freeport- Dana Blackmon got the win on the mound as the Royals survived a scare to come back and beat the hosting Freeport Bulldogs 16-6. Down 6-2 in the 5th inning, the bats came alive for the Royals as they scored 10 straight runs to go up 12-6 and never looked back. Avery Jackson and Dana Blackmon both had 3 runs a piece. The Royals face Chipley tonight (weather permitting) for the District Championship in Freeport.
