James Donald Rowell

James Donald Rowell, lovingly known as “JD” to so many, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. JD was a lifelong resident of the Fidelis community in Florida, where he ran a service station for more than 50 years. JD was a loving and caring brother to his family. He was the kind of uncle that every child wishes that they had and he was the type of friend that was always there for you. JD loved his family and friends. He loved spoiling children and he loved his bluegrass music. He was a man with a big heart that touched the whole community. JD was preceded in death by his wives Betty Rowell and Nell Rowell; sisters, Lucille Ellis, Jewel Nowling, Birtie Griffin, Cathleen Jones, and Beatrice Hill, and also his brother Shelby Rowell. He is survived by his brother Ed (Gladys) Rowell; Sisters, Willa Jean Roberts and Hazel Bertrand and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, November 22, 2014 beginning at 11am at Jay Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will follow on the same day and location at 12 p.m. Burial will take place after the funeral service concludes at RLDS cemetery in Berrydale. The family would like to give a special thank you to D.W. McMillian Hospital’s doctors and staff and the Westgate Village’s staff for their loving and compassionate care.
