J.D. Mac Invitational Results
The Jay City Park was full of cross country runners on Saturday morning; about 350 to be exact. It was the 10th Annual J.D. Mac Invitational was the largest in its recent history and the weather was perfect for running and racing. Jay’s Micah Kemp was the fastest of all runners finishing the boys race in 16:16. Kemp also set a new J.D. Mac Invitational course record. The Jay Boys Cross Country team finished 8th out of 17 teams and Kemp was followed by teammates Cody Wolfe 15th (17:47), Casey Zylstra 55th (19:08), Austin Gonzales 56th (19:08.82), and Mark Foley 92nd (21:14).
In the girls race four runners ran faster than 19:00 with the winning time being 18:46. Jay’s Jessica Thornton finished 17th (21:11), Carsen Arrant 41st (22:47), Savannah Brown 44th (22:50), Jenna Thornton 60th (23:20), Carly Sanders 98th (26:45), Kendra Weeks 106th (28:43), and RayAnn Free 107th (28:47). As a team the Jay Girls Cross Country team finished 10th out of 16 teams.
The Elementary/Middle School runners ran a great race in the Open 5K. Hannah Whitlock (22:54), Jillian Thornton (24:13), Abby Hendricks (27:56), Katie Stanford (28:01), Christa Sanders (28:59)
