Flomaton/Jay- It’s here!

The first game of the 2014 football season is here. Flomaton at Jay. Bitter rivals. 7 miles separates these two schools, but on Friday night, they will be meeting up in Jay.

This game has no bearing on playoffs or district standings, but it has a feel of a state championship, even though the two schools aren’t even in the same state. Last year, the Hurricanes edged the Royals in an excellent ballgame, 25-22. That game came down to the final few ticks of the clock that could of went either way. Friday night looks to be a great way to open up the season for players, coaches, fans, and alumni alike.

The atmosphere should be a fun one when you consider it’s the first game of the season, coupled with it being a big rival game, in addition to the nail bitter that we got last year when these two teams got together. With the Royals on the road the next two weeks  (next week at Rocky Bayou followed by a trip to Vernon) the Royal faithful will want to make sure that they attend this home opener and witness would should be a great game.
