IMMUNIZATION CLINIC HOURS TEMPORARILY EXPANDED AT FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH MILTON LOCATION
Milton, FL – Due to severe damage caused by flooding, the Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County Midway location remains closed until further notice. Immunization Clinic hours at the health department’s main facility, 5527 Stewart Street in Milton, will be temporarily expanded from June 16 through August 14. Expanding clinic hours is an effort to provide additional opportunities for residents of the Midway/Gulf Breeze area to access immunization services.
The Milton location offers immunizations two days a week, Mondays and Thursdays. The expanded schedule will add a clinic day on Tuesdays and extend hours on Thursdays through the summer, when many students are getting immunizations before starting school in the fall.
Temporary Immunization Clinic Hours:
Monday 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
“We know it is inconvenient for clients to drive from Midway or Gulf Breeze to Milton, and we considered finding another location in the Midway area to work out of temporarily, but with limited staff and the difficulty of transporting vaccine, it just was not an option for us,” said Barbara McMillion, R.N., the health department’s nursing director. “Some vaccines are sensitive to temperature. If the optimum temperature cannot be maintained during transport, we could lose thousands of dollars in vaccines.”
Immunizations are provided on a walk-in basis. Other services, including Family Planning and WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) are offered by appointment.
