WHEN VISIBILITY IS LOW, DRIVE SLOW
Pensacola, Fla. –Visibility can change within seconds, so use extreme caution when driving in fog. There is the possibility of dense fog in the panhandle area for the next several nights. Motorists are urged to use caution when encountering fog on the roadways. Motorist should monitor the changing weather conditions and adjust their driving as necessary.
Safety tips on driving in low visibility:
• Slow down, but do not slam your brakes.
• Turn your headlights on low.
• If you must stop, pull all the way off the road and turn on
your emergency flashers to let drivers know you are parked.
• Watch out for parked or slower moving vehicles
• Reduce the distractions in your vehicle.
• Utilize wipers and defrosters to maximize visibility.
• Report the hazard to the local law enforcement agencies or
911.
