Man Barricades Himself in Home

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 3600 block of Clemson Rd in Gulf Breeze this morning reference a man with a gun. The complainant advised the male was alone in the home and was possibly going to hurt himself. Deputies arrived on scene began to speak with the male who then barricaded himself inside the home.

The male was identified as Rhett Maurice Gungey (DOB3/14/72). Deputies attempted several times to have Gungey come out peacefully but he refused. SWAT team members then arrived to assist.

At approximately 2:00 pm, Gungey surrendered to Deputies and was taken into custody. No one was injured during the incident. Clemson Road was closed during the entire event.
