SPECIAL OLYMPICS FLORIDA – ESCAMBIA/SANTA ROSA FIRST ANNUAL PENSACOLA PARADISE REGATTA

Pensacola, FL – Who’s ready to raise their sails and race for Special Olympics?! On Saturday, November 2, 2013 Special Olympics Florida – Escambia/Santa Rosa will be hosting their first Annual Pensacola Paradise Regatta at Quietwater Beach. The sailboat race kicks off at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by food, drinks and a silent auction at Pensacola Beach Yacht Club. The race will include Hobie 16 and Open Catamaran class. This event will help raise funds for our local Special Olympics sailing team which holds their bi-weekly practices at Quietwater Beach and will be competing in a Hobie 16 class division in this race. Come out and support our athletes!
The Pensacola Beach Yacht Club, along with members from Navy Yacht Club and Pensacola Yacht Club, are conducting the races as well as providing their expertise and guidance. Special Olympics Florida provides year round sports training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, at no cost to the athlete or their caregiver, as a means to achieve physical fitness, self-esteem, socialization skills, and the life skills necessary to be a productive, respected and contributing members of their communities.
