Vehicle Burglary – Shots Fired in North Santa Rosa County
On 7/29/13, we received 2 separate calls regarding vehicle burglaries in the area of 14000 block of Hwy 87 and also on Gainey Ford Rd. These calls were both received after 2300 hrs.
The first reported incident, the vehicle was found open after the fact, with valuables taken. No one was observed in the area. While Deputies were on scene, a second vehicle burglary was called in to the Sheriff’s Office.
During the incident on Gainey Ford Rd which was the second reported incident, the victim observed 2 males in the victim’s car which was unlocked at the time of the burglary. The victim approached the 2 suspects and yelled to them. During this point, the two suspects ran from the scene. The victim stated one of the suspects fired 3 rounds in the direction of the victim. No one was injured.
At this time, we are conducting an investigation in to both vehicle burglaries. These incidents appear to be isolated and no trends have been identified.
