Burglary at the South Santa Rosa County Service Center
On 6/10/13, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the South Santa Rosa Service Center (Also known as the Annex) in reference to a burglary.
It was determined the burglary took place on Sunday morning, beginning at approximately 0225 hrs. Video was obtained showing 2 individuals entering the facility through a door on the East side of the building. A crow bar was used to pry the door open. A fiber optic cable was also found cut, outside the door.
2 safes were stolen. They were removed using a hand dolly. The initial entry was at approximately 0225 hrs. One suspect entered the Annex and directly approached the safe. The suspect then exited the building. The suspected again entered at approximately 0445 hrs where he is seen with a second suspect. The total time estimated in the burglary is about 9 minutes.
It was also determined these safes were in public view. Motive has yet to be determined. At this time, we have no indications that this burglary was politically motivated. We were advised the contents of the safe included 35 ballots, a thumb drive and a cell phone.
