Jay Boys Tennis team advances to Regionals

The district tennis tournament took place this week.  The girls team for Jay fell in the district but the boys team finished as District Runner-up and will go on to Regionals.  During the two day district Jay’s results were as follows:

Day one:

Girls action:  Hillary Hendricks lost to Allen (RB) 0-6, 0-6;  Emily Russell won against Massey (SW) 6-3, 6-2; Russell lost to Erikson (Cath) 0-6.0-6;  Carly Owens lost to Godwin (SW) 3-6.6-2,1-6; Allison Russell won against Sadler (F) 6-0, 6-1 and lost to Wuthrich (C) 0-6,0-6; Kathryn English lost to Christian (C) 0-6,0-6;    In Doubles:  Hendricks/E. Russell won against Massey/Godwin (SW) 6-3,6-1;  Owens/A. Russell won against McMain/Batson (F) 6-0.6-0

Boys action: Evan Goodson won against Burrero (RB) 6-0,2-6,6-1  and lost to Ephran (C) 0-6,0-6;  Eric Trevino won against Keck (SW) 6-1,6-3; Cody Paramore won against McArthur (RB) 6-2,6-1;  Justice Garcia lost to Campion  (C)  0-6,0-6; Dylan Wolfe won against Kelley (RB) 6-1,6-0;  In Doubles:  Goodson/Trevino beat Lamberson/Keck (SW) 2-6,7-5,7-5; and Paramore/Garcia beat shily/Weidell (SW) 7-6, 6-4

Day two:

Girls: hendricks/ E. Russell (Semi finals) vs. McLaurin/ Erickson (C) lost 0-6,0-6 and Owens/A. Russell vs. gayins/Wuthrich (C) lost 0-6,0-6

Boys:  Trevino (Finals) vs. Sullivan (C) lost 0-6,2-6; Paramore (Finals) vs Lowery (C) lost 0-6,0-6; Wolfe (Finals) vs. Musterson (C) lost 0-6,0-6; in doubles: Goodson/Trevino (Finals) vs Ephron/Sulliva lost 0-6,0-6; and Paramore/Garcia (Finals) vs Lowery/Campion (C) lost 2-6,1-6;

Girls Total Points:

Catholic- 14,  Rocky Bayou- 6, Jay-4, SouthWalton-3, and Freeport-0

Boys Total Points:

Catholic- 14, Jay-6, SouthWalton-3, Rocky Bayou-2, and Freeport-0
