New Classic Movie Program @ Your Library
Join fellow movie lovers on the second Tuesday of every month at the Navarre Library for a showing of a classic movie. The films will be shown at2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month, except during summer months. Each program is open to the public and there is no charge or prior registration required. Come with a friend or come meet a new friend! Here’s a look at what is in store:
- April 9 — “Casablanca” (1942, 102 minutes, Black and White, Turner/Warner Bros; Not Rated. Directed by Michael Curtiz. Starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, and Paul Henreid). One of the most memorable of all film experiences,Casablanca is a trueHollywood legend. All the elements of the production—story, cast, photography, direction, and music—are woven expertly together to create a motion picture monument. Wartime refugees gather in Morocco to obtain scarce exit visas toLisbon. The final airport sequence is an event not to be forgotten.
- May 14 — “To Kill a Mockingbird” (1962, 129 minutes, Black and White, Universal Pictures, Not Rated, Directed by Robert Mulligan. Starring Gregory Peck and Mary Badham). Six-year-old Jean Louise “Scout” Finch is growing up in the Depression era of the early 1930s in a small Southern town in this highly acclaimed motion picture based on Harper Lee’s semi-autobiographical novel. Jean’s father, the town lawyer, is a wise, quiet man with a great sense of justice who defends a poor, black man accused of rape. Winner of three Academy Awards® including Best Actor for Gregory Peck.
