Town Hall Meeting today in Jay
MIDWAY – Representative Doug Broxson (R–Midway) will host a town hall meeting concerning HB 431, a bill regarding how the state of Florida enters into contract with private companies who wish to explore the Blackwater River State Forest for the development of oil and gas resources. Representative Broxson stated, “I encourage an open discussion about this issue because I believe these discussions will bring us closer to finding solutions.”
The meeting will take place on Monday, February 25 at the Jay Community Center from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The meeting will include representatives from the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Florida Forrest Service, who will provide information and answer questions regarding the issue of oil drilling on state lands.
Representative Broxson added, “I believe that this bill should be thoroughly vetted both in the legislature and in the Panhandle before I will support its progress.”
