Baptist Medical Group Hospitalists Provide Higher Level of Care with Advanced Palliative Care Certifications
PENSACOLA, Fla. (Feb. 11, 2013) Baptist Medical Group is pleased to announce that hospitalists Peter E. Millington, M.D., and John Boden, M.D., have received advanced certifications in palliative care by the American Board of Medical Specialties, designating them as experts in specialized medical care for people with serious illness.
“Earning a further certification in palliative care is just one example of how Dr. Millington, Dr. Boden and our entire hospitalist team go the extra mile to ensure all patients receive the absolute best, most comprehensive care possible during a stay at Baptist and Gulf Breeze hospitals,” explains Dr. John Sullivan, medical director and hospitalist with Baptist’s hospitalist team.
In addition to being newly certified in palliative care, Drs. Millington and Boden are board certified internal medicine physicians and experienced members of Baptist Medical Group’s growing hospitalist team. As hospitalists, both skilled providers offer compassionate care to patients during their stay at Baptist Hospital and Gulf Breeze Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Boden is certified in advanced cardiac life support.
According to the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, palliative care focuses on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain and stress of a serious illness—whatever the diagnosis. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.
