Milton Man Arrested for for Aggravated Battery
A Milton man was arrested after an altercation broke out at a New Years Eve bonfire party in north Milton. Deputies received the call for assistance shortly after midnight on 1/01/13. The caller stated that the victim had been thrown into a bonfire at 7096 Springhill Road, Milton, FL. The victim, Cody Healy (W/M, 26 years old, Pace, FL) was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital, and subsequently USA Medical Center prior to the deputy’s arrival. When deputies arrived, they determined that the suspect, Devin Lee Bass (W/M, 24 years old, 5600 block of Jeff Ates Road) had punched Healy in the back of the head, knocking him unconscious. When Healy fell, he fell into the bonfire, causing severe burns to Healy’s face neck, and chest. Healy was lying in the fire for a few seconds before he was pulled from the fire by other people present. Bass also punched another victim in the face while the other victim was trying to help Healy from the fire. The second victim lost two teeth and suffered a laceration to his face. Bass was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery, and Resisting an Officer, due to his providing a false name. Bass is currently in the Santa Rosa County Jail with no bond. Healy is in serious but stable condition at the USA Medical Center Burn Unit in Alabama.
