Shooting In Pace
The Santa Rosa County Sheriffs Office is investigating a shooting that occurred this morning in Pace. At approximately 0630 hours, Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a report of a shooting that occurred in the 4800 Block of Pembrook Place, Pace. The victim, an adult male, stated that he had heard noises outside near his vehicle and went to investigate. When he went outside, he encountered a male suspect, wearing all black, trying to burglarize his vehicle. A physical confrontation occurred between the two. While the victim and suspect were struggling with each other, a second suspect approached, wearing all black, and began assisting the first suspect. During this struggle, one of the suspects pulled a handgun and shot the victim in the leg. A second shot was fired, striking the victim in the finger. Both suspects then fled, and the victim was able to get help from his family, who was home at the time. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The injuries are not life threatening. Numerous Sheriff’s Office personnel are on scene, including K-9, Crime Scene, and Investigations. No suspects have been located at this time. More information will be released as it becomes available.
