Royals Top at XC Meet

The Jay Royal’s Cross Country teams ran Paxton meet at the Lake Jackson Tuesday, October 23rd.  The girl’s team finished 1st overall in the 7 team meet.  The boy’s team finished 3rd overall out of 8 teams.  This was a pre District run to see where the team standings are for next week’s November 1st District 1A meet hosted by Paxton and at the same location Lake Jackson in Florala.  A great flat course to have personal records once again met Tuesday.  Over 8 out of the 13 girls got personal best.  Over 3 out of the 6 guys also got personal best times. Top runner for Jay was sophomore Jessica Thornton, 1st place overall, with a personal best time of 19:30, only a few seconds away from being the new 5K Jay High record.  The Jay Royals boy’s top finisher was Micah Kemp, 4th place overall, with a time of 17:30.  Both the boy’s and girl’s teams should advance to Regionals if they continue to work hard and keep their times consistent.   ~Coach Teresa Hendricks
