Navarre Beach Bridge Repairs Scheduled to Begin Oct. 15

 Maintenance and repairs to the Navarre Beach Bridge and the sound relief bridge will begin on Monday, Oct. 15. Closure of the bridge is not anticipated; however motorist, bicyclists and pedestrians should anticipate temporary lane closures and night work. Drivers are reminded to use caution and obey posted speed limits when traveling through the area especially at night. Construction is weather dependant and is anticipated to take 180 days.

 The project is estimated at $2.4 million and includes repair of the bridge fender system, pedestrian railing replacement, concrete spall and crack repair, expansion joint replacement, steel replacement and repair, and structural steel coating. The bridge was turned over to the Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners by the state on September 14, 2006 with $4 million for future repairs.
