Escapee From Alabama Arrested After Burglarizing Church in Navarre

An escaped inmate from Lauderdale, Alabama is now in custody at the Santa Rosa County Jail. Wesley Lee Gibson (W/M, 27 years old) escaped along with three others from the Lauderdale County Alabama Jail on 9/29/2012. Shortly after 0300 hours on 10/02/2012, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 9302 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, FL (First Baptist Church of Navarre) in reference to an audible alarm. When deputies arrived, they found that a window had been broken. The deputy also observed blood inside through the window. A Sheriff’s Office K-9 responded to the scene and conducted a search of the area. The K-9 tracked from the broken window to a place approximately 100 yards north of the building. Deputies located Wesley Gibson and arrested him without incident. Gibson stated that he broke into the building because he “didn’t have anywhere to go”. Gibson also told deputies that he was an escaped prisoner from Lauderdale County Jail. It was then confirmed that he was an escapee. Gibson was placed under arrest and charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and theft. Another inmate that escaped with Gibson was caught on 9/30/2012 in Alabama, shortly after the escape. The location of the remaining two escapees is not known, however the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office is not ruling out that they may be in Santa Rosa County or neighboring counties. They are identified as:

Ricky Dewayne Lawson, 28 years old, W/M 6’4” 170 lbs

Robert Lee Brown, 20 years old, W/M 5’6” 164 lbs
