Milton Man Resists Arrest and Injures Deputy
Deputy injured in altercation around 9:30pm Saturday night on Pensacola Beach. Deputies responded to a fight involving a deputy in the area of Via De Luna and Calle Traviesa. Deputy Terry Hammock responded to the area to investigate a suspicious vehicle. He made contact with the driver, who was speaking irrationally and couldn’t answer Deputy Hammock’s questions.
The driver could not provide the deputy with identification nor the who the vehicle he was driving belonged to, but later identified himself as Richard Massey, 34, of Milton, Florida. Deputy Hammock instructed Massey to step out of the vehicle and informed him that he would be detained in the back of Hammock’s patrol car until he could be properly identified.
Massey resisted Hammock’s attempt to be secured in the patrol car and proceeded to fight with the deputy. Deputy Hammock was able to hold the suspect on the ground until other units could arrive to assist him. Deputy Hammock sustained minor injuries during the altercation and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
His condition is not known at this time. Massey was booked into the Escambia County Jail and charged with Resisting an Officer with Violence. He has a $5,000 bond.
