Dr. Michael Coyle – First Ever Board-Certified Urogynecologist
Santa Rosa Medical Center & Santa Rosa Medical Group Congratulate Urogynecologist Michael Coyle, DO, FACOOG, FPMRS
Milton physician becomes first ever board-certified female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeon
Dr. Michael Coyle recently became the first physician in the nation to be board-certified in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery as recognized by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology which treats urogynecological conditions such as incontinence and pelvic pain.
Dr. Coyle is an expert in treating conditions that are often considered part of the natural aging process, however women have more options now and no longer need to suffer with these issues. Options include robotic technology that allows women to undergo complex procedures while experiencing less pain and faster recoveries. Dr. Coyle is skilled in minimally invasive da Vinci robotic surgery, and serves as the hospital’s director of robotic surgery. He also is a national trainer for da Vinci gynecological surgery. This means he not only performs these procedures himself, he also teaches other surgeons how to use the robotic surgical system.
“We congratulate Dr. Coyle on this historic achievement of becoming the first ever board-certified urogynecologist. He has been an integral part of our team, and provides exceptional care to his patients. We are happy to have him as a partner, and look forward to growing our robotic surgery program with his leadership,” Phillip Wright, Santa Rosa Medical Center CEO, said.
Dr. Coyle has been a member of the Santa Rosa Medical Center medical staff since 2004 and recently joined the Santa Rosa Medical Group. He treats women with pelvic organs that have slipped out of place, uterine fibroids, severe endometriosis, urinary incontinence and fecal incontinence.
“I am thrilled to be recognized as the first board-certified female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeon, and l will continue working in this important area of women’s health. The teams at Santa Rosa Medical Group and Santa Rosa Medical Center are outstanding, and together we provide the best possible outcomes for our patients,” Dr. Coyle said.
