Arcadia Mill Summer “Access Archaeology”
Arcadia Mill Summer “Access Archaeology”
Arcadia Mill and the 2012 UWF archaeological field school will be hosting a public event called “Access Archaeology” on Saturday, July 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Mill is located at 5709 Mill Pond Lane in Milton, Florida. Public Day is Free to All. Come to the Visitor’s Center for directions and/or a guide. Closed toe shoes are recommended.
The 2012 UWF field school will be excavating on this day so that the community has a weekend opportunity to visit the dig. This summer’s field school, located in the neighborhood just south of the Arcadia Mill site, is focused on investigating the historic Simpson Lot. This was the location of the historic Simpson homestead, housing for enslaved African Americans, and numerous associated outbuildings.
