Baptist Medical Group Expands Hospitalist Program

As an illustration of their commitment to the needs of their patients and the community, Baptist Medical Group has recruited two experienced, board certified physicians – Dr. Amy Doyle and Dr. Ismeth Abbas – to join their hospitalist program and expansive physician network.

“If you’ve ever been admitted to the hospital, you know how important a hospitalist physician can be to ensuring you receive quality, coordinated medical care,” says Kent Skolrood, president of Baptist Medical Group. “Drs. Doyle and Abbas bring years of experience and a true passion for patient care that will be a valuable asset to our program and our community.”

Dr. Amy Doyle is dual board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease. She moves to the Pensacola area from Birmingham, Ala., where she previously served as program director for Baptist Health Systems’ transitional year residency program. She earned her medical degree at the University of Alabama-Birmingham and completed her fellowship in infectious disease at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

Dr. Ismeth Abbas is board certified in both internal medicine and hospital medicine. He joins Baptist from Salem, Ore., where he previously served as the hospitalist medical director for a 450-bed hospital.  He completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill., after earning his medical degree at the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research at Bharathiar University, India. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of Hospital Medicine.

Both Drs. Doyle and Abbas join Baptist in July 2012 and will serve both Baptist and Gulf Breeze patients.

Baptist hospitalist program is one of the largest programs in the area, with hospitalists available seven days a week and 24 hours a day to provide patients with on-going and immediate care in the hospital. They assess and treat medical conditions, coordinate hospital care and may consult specialists to assist with patient care, as needed.
