Local Young Man Dies in Accident on Chumuckla Hwy
On Tuesday, July 3,2012 Trevor Thomas, a 2009 Graduate of Jay High School was tragically killed in an auto accident. Trevor was the son of Pam and Dale Thomas and brother of Marshal Thomas and Whitney Singleton. Trevor is remembered by friends as the type of guy whose personality was contagious. He was always smiling and just rubbed his happiness off on you. If you were Trevor’s friend you would always jam out to any type of music he was listening to no matter the mood. “I will never forget his voice and how amazing he made me feel when I was with him. I’ll always love him and he will always be missed. “, said friend Cara Cassady
Trevor Thomas, 21 of Jay, was southbound on Chumuckla Highway (Hwy 197). Clayton Gregory, 16 of Pensacola, was northbound on Chumuckla Highway. For unknown reason(s) Thomas crossed the center dividing line and entered the northbound lane of Chumuckla Highway. Gregory observed the Chevy Camero cross the center line and began slowing his speed and moving to the right (east), partially entering the east grass shoulder and continued to apply his brakes. Thomas never attempted to correct his driving pattern, resulting in the front left of the Camaro striking the front left of Gregory’s pickup on the east side of the northbound lane of Chumuckla Highway. Impact forced the Camaro in a southwesterly direction back across the center line and southbound lane onto the west shoulder. The impact forced the pickup in a northeasterly direction continuing on the east shoulder. Final rest of the Camaro was facing east on the west shoulder of Chumuckla Highway. Final rest of Gregory’s pickup was facing northwest on the west shoulder of Chumuckla Highway.
Trevor Thomas was pronounced deceased at the scene by Life Guard EMS.
Trevor was a very sweet young man. Prayers for his entire family. He also has a sister, Whitney!
Our prayers are with the family of this young man.
