Active Shooter Training
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Santa Rosa County School District will be conducting Active Shooter Training/Exercises during the summer at Avalon Middle School. Most active shooting incidents are often over within 10 to 15 minutes and law enforcement must be prepared both mentally and physically to deal with active shooter situations. Active shooter situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly which typically requires immediate deployment of law enforcement to stop the shooting and mitigate harm to the victims.
The Active Shooter Training will be conducted from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm the following dates:
June 29th; July 6th; July 13th; July 27th and August 3rd
Citizens can expect to see increased law enforcement and other first responders presence and activity in the vicinity of Avalon Middle School during the aforementioned dates and times.
