Fatal Accident on Hwy 89

Nathan Berry, 22, of Flomaton, AL was fatally injured Thursday, June 21st around 3:20 pm. Nathan was an active EMT for Santa Rosa County.   Nathan was driving a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle when he collided with a tractor driven by Grady Lane Farish, 45, of Brewton, Al.

Both Berry and Farish were traveling north on SR 89 north of Pineview Church Road. Farish  was operating an implement of husbandry, a John Deere Tractor with a mower attached. He was traveling close to the grass median on the paved portion of the right of way (east side). The over width tractor’s left wheel was traveling near the center of the northbound travel lane.  Berry on a motorcycle was traveling also close to the center of the travel lane of the roadway. Berry struck the left rear of the tractor’s implement with the front of the motorcycle.

Nathan Berry was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital by AIRHEART transport where he was pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the accident.  Farish had no injuries.

A full investigation is ongoing with the Florida Hwy Patrol.
