Intoxicated Pedestrian Hit on Navarre Causeway

Pedestrian taken to Baptist Hospital in serious condition after being struck by a 1998 pickup.

Pedestrian, John Thomas Lachenmyer, 24, of Gulf Breeze  was laying in the roadway on the Navarre Causeway Bridge in the East bound lane. Two vehicles were traveling East bound. The first vehicle saw the pedestrian and swerved to avoid hitting him. The second vehicle, driven by Jeremy Tyler Odom, 21, of Crestview  was not able to react in time and the pickup’s right side tires struck the pedestrian.  The accident happened on Monday, May 28 around 2 in the morning.

There was a pedestrian walkway separated from the roadway by a concrete barrier wall and the pedestrian had either fallen or stepped over the wall. Per EMS and hospital personnel, the pedestrian was heavily intoxicated.
