Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk 2012
The American Cancer Society is proud to announce the 10th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 27, 2012. The 5K walk is held annually to raise money for breast cancer research, advocacy, education, and patient services throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
This year’s Event Leadership Team is made up of three dynamic community leaders that have made the commitment to fight for a cure for breast cancer.
- David Wildebrandt, senior vice president, Baptist Health Care and administrator, Baptist Hospital, serving as the 2012 event chair
- David Tuyo, interim president and CEO, Pen Air Federal Credit Union serving as the income vice chair
- Marja Mayes, escrow analysis specialist at Navy Federal Credit Union serving as the operations vice chair
“Breast Cancer has touched each of our lives,” Wildebrandt said. “We have journeyed with these courageous women and have seen the impact of new and improved treatments that give women greater hope than ever before. It’s my privileged to serve as this year’s Chair and support Pensacola’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer toward a promise of a cure.”

Since 1993, nearly six million walkers across the United States have raised more than $400 million to help fight breast cancer through Making Strides events. This October, we expect more than 12,000 walkers will participate and raise over $500,000 in Pensacola.
Registration and festivities begin at 7:00 a.m. and the walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. Walkers may form a team or walk individually.
