Red Snapper tournament June 2 offers $7,000 in prizes

 Fishermen can try their luck at a Northwest Florida tournament that offers large cash prizes without big entry fees.

The Red Snapper Challenge, to be held June 2, offers more than $3,500 for the first-place finisher and over $7,000 in total prizes, with an entrance fee of only $159 for a five-person boat.

The event, based at North Light Marina in Niceville, is open to center consoles and fishing boats of all sizes.

Anglers will compete for the heaviest red snapper with opt-ins available in red snapper, king mackerel, aggregates, ladies and youth categories. Prizes are based on 50 entries.

The event begins with a captain’s party June 1 and continues June 2, with weigh-ins concluding at 9 p.m. Free live music and other entertainment will be offered both nights.
