Central Jaguar’s Athletic Banquet

Central School held the annual Athletic Banquet on Tuesday, May 15 to honor all the athletes who participated in the sports program this year.

The Jaguar Booster Club in it’s first year has contributed over $5000. to the athletic department.  Mrs. King encouraged all parents to join the booster club and help support the students.  Jaguar Booster Club officers are: President Mike Simmons; Vice-President Lynne McDonald; Secretary Donna Tate; Treasurer Robin Ward.  President, Mike Simmons was on had to present the first Senior Scholar Athlete Awards to the Male and Female Athlete with the highest GPA.  The Winners were: Dylan Peacock and Taylor Mitchell.

Highlights from this year in Sports:

• Girls Cross Country – 1st time to go to the Regional Meet, Won their First Meet; Placed 10th out of 30 teams  MVP – Beth Smith; Most Improved – Erica Waters; Jaguar Heart Award – Kennedy Fuller
• Boys Cross Country – Runner-Up in District; MVP -Kyle Fuller; Most Improved – Keifer Boyett; Jaguar Pride Award – Nick Pooley
• Golf – won 9 out of 12 Matches; MVP – Jesse Jernigan; Most Improved – Weslee Vance.
• Varsity Volleyball – MVP -Sarah Forsythe; Best Offensive Player – Myranda Jernigan; Best Defensive Player-Haleigh Padgett
• Varsity Cheerleaders – Encouraged more school spirit with posters in the gym and run through signs at all home games; Most Valuable Cheerleader – Jessie Magee
• Varsity Girls Basketball – Win over Paxton; MVP -Sarah Forsythe; Most Improved-Myranda Jernigan; Best Offensive Player -Makayla Simmons
• Varsity Boys Basketball – MVP -Nick Waters; Hustle Award -Victor Dixon; Most Improved -Dakota Gregory
• Varsity Softball – MVP -Sarah Forsythe; Best Offensive Player -Taylor Mitchell; Most Improved -Arielle Harris
• Varsity Baseball -MVP -Nick Waters; Best Defensive Player -Nolan Frady; Best Offensive Player -T.J. Beasley
• Girls Track – MVP -Brittney Forsythe; Best Runner -Natelie Jernigan; Best Field Event -Myranda Jernigan
• Boys Track – MVP -Josh Strength; Top Field Event -Jacob Dawson; Jaguar Pride Award -Lee Henning
