Royals Win the Battle with Jaguars
The Jay High School Royals won the battle 5-2 over the Central Jaguars Thursday night. Royals coach Jorey Diamond said, “the boys kept battling, and were able to capitalize on a couple of mistakes.” The Royals seniors stepped up to the plate combining for all 6 hits. Seniors Sammy James and Todd Laney were on the mound for the Royals. Laney said after the game he ” was glad to be able to do my part, pitching 2 innings giving up no runs”.
The Royals move to 8-12 overall for the year. They remain 5-5 for the district. They travel to Bonifay to play the winner of game 1 on Tuesday, April 24th.
The Jaguars started the night honoring their solo senior, Dylan Peacock. Coach Mike Roberts expressed, “we always play to win and are disappointed when we lose, the boys played hard, we have a very young group of kids.” He went on to say,”it is great to see what we do on the practice field applied in the game.” Nick Waters pitched a great game that would be a winner most nights. Nick went all 7 innings allowing only 6 hits, 5Runs, 2ER, 1Walk and 4K’s.
Central moves to 8-7 for the season and 6-4 in district play.
