Lady Royals 2012 District Champs

The Lady Royals won the 2012 District 2 Class 1A Title after winning 5-1 against Holmes County High Thursday night, April 19, 2012.  The Lady Royals are now 18-3 for the season without a loss in over a month.

Game Recap: In the 2nd inning Destiny Herring walked, Sydney Lowery sacrificed her to second base, Samantha Steadham had a 2 out double to score Destiny for the first Royal run.  In the third Tessa Hendricks had a triple, Becca Calloway walked and they both scored on wild pitches – bringing the score to 3-1.  In the fifth, Becca singled and then capitalized on errors to score; Camille Driver was on base and Sydney Lowery had a 2 out Double and picked up the RBI as Camille scored- bringing the score 5-1.

Coach Brian Watson states, “I am proud of the girls, they have continued to play solid defense.” The Lady Royals will host the runner up from District 1 in the first round of Regionals on Friday, April 27.
