Watson Wins Masters

Santa Rosa native, Bubba Watson, won the Augusta National on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012.  Bubba Watson, a graduate of Milton High School, had his fourth PGA win and won the Masters in the second hole of a Sudden Death play-off.

Bubba shot 10 under par for the tournament, tied with Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa.  The golfers replayed the 18th hole and were still tied.  They moved to the 10th hole and Bubba hit a long drive that went into the trees off the fairway. The 10th hole is par 4.  Bubba hit a miraculous shot from 155 yards out to put the ball only a few feet from the hole. When asked about the shot Bubba replied, “I had to hook it about 40 yards or so, I’m pretty good at hooking it,  I hooked it up there and somehow it nestled pretty close to the hole.”  Most experts describe Bubba as a unique and natural player.  He has never had a lesson and plays the game unlike others.  Louis bogeyed the hole and Bubba was able to shoot par, thus winning The Masters and getting his “Green Jacket”.

When asked what this meant, Bubba replied, “It is a Blessing,  I never got this far in my dreams.”  Waiting at home to congratulate Bubba is wife, Angie and new son, Caleb.
