Hit and Run-Pedestrian Identified
William Geoffrey Hopkins Jr., 20 of Navarre was identified and family notified that he was stuck and killed in a hit and run accident on Friday March 9, 2012. The Florida Hwy Patrol is asking anyone with information about the 2005 Chevrolet 2500 pewter colored pickup that they believe was involved in the accident to contact them at 484-5000 or remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoopers at 437-STOP or online at http://www.srccs.com/contactus.aspx

On Friday evening, March 9 around 6:30 pm a hit and run occurred on Whispering Pine Blvd. A unknown Chevrolet, pickup truck, that was traveling west on SR 30, US 98, and entered the right turn lane for Whispering Pines Blvd. A Pedestrian was walking westbound on the right turn lane with the traffic. The truck struck the Pedestrian from behind and projected the pedestrian onto the east shoulder of State Road 30. The chevrolet truck then fled the scene westbound. The Pedestrian was flown to Baptist Hospital where he was pronounced deceased from the injuries he received in the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating a hit and run fatality in the Navarre Community of Santa Rosa County. We are looking for a 2005, Chevrolet, 2500, pick up pewter in color with front damage to the grill and passenger headlight assembly. Please contact the Florida Highway Patrol if you have any information reguaring this crash.
