Game, Set, Match – Royals win over Panthers
The Jay High Royals Tennis team won over Milton 4-3. The boys were 1-6 in the first meet against Milton early in the season. Coach Kersey, “The team is doing what they are being told: be consistent, stay in the point and don’t force the shot.” In the “Pro Set” tennis match the number one player has to face the opponent’s number one player. Most of the opponents for Jay have been playing more than 6 weeks. Jay has come a tremendous way since the beginning of the season.
The girls hit a rough spot and lost 3-4. “We have so much talent, they are doing great despite the loss”, said Ch. Kersey. When the girls first faced Milton they also had a score of 1-6. In the first season and for many having only 6 weeks experience on the court, the girls are doing a good job and improved to 3-4.
The team had some tough opponents, long volleys and great shots.
The boys stats were: Evan Goodson 1-8; Eric Travino 5-8; Cody Paramore 8-6; Justice Garcia 8-4; Dylan Wolfe 8-2; Doubles: Evan/Eric 5-8; Cody/Justice 8-3.
