JHS Tennis Team wins First Meet
The Jay High Tennis team won their first meet on Thursday, March 1st. The Royals traveled to Freeport and both the boys and girls won the meet with a record of 6-1.
The Boys scores: Evan Goodson 8-0; Eric Travino 8-1; Justice Garcia 7-9; Dylan Wolfe 8-0 and Tristan Penenegka 8-1. In doubles Evan and Eric went 8-2 and Justice and Dylan went 8-0.
The Girls scores: Hillary Hendricks, 4-8; Emily Russell 8-1. In doubles Hillary and Emily won 8-3.
Coach Melvin Kersey was ecstatic with the win, ” the kids are starting to believe in themselves and you can see the change in their game”. They picked up momentum with tonight’s win and hope that will carry over to Monday’s meet at home against W.S. Neal.
