Fellowship of Christian Athletes hold Banquet

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host a banquet in honor of area players in the sport of basketball and cheerleading. The Banquet will be Monday, February 13, 2012 at 6pm at the First Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fl located at 500 N. The Above the Rim award is given to a boy and girl from each varsity team that represents the best example of FCA values.  These values are: Integrity, Serving, Teamwork, and Excellence.  At the banquet each participating team will be presented with the “Above the Rim” Award for his/her school.  Teams from Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties are invited to attend at no cost.  The boys and girls are chosen by coaches and teammates. The recipients will be announced tonight.

Jay High School Above the Rim recipients are:  Becca Calloway and Quinten Garcia.  Becca is the daughter of Mandy and Keith Holland, she is a senior at Jay.  She has played basketball for 6 years.  Quinten is the son of Julie and Steven Newberry. “ Big Baby Q” was voted by his peers to receive the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Challenger Award in football this year for reflecting Christian qualities as an athlete on and off the field.  Quinten is a senior at Jay.

At this same banquet they will honor individuals from the area schools Varsity Cheerleading Squads as “Spirit of Champions”.  Kayla Flowers was selected as our Fellowship of Christian Athletes ” Spirit of Champions” winner for Jay High.  Kayla is the daughter of Alton Flowers and the late Judy Baker Flowers.  She is in the 10th grade at Jay.

Central school has selected Marlayna Adams as their “Spirit of Champions” award winner.  Marlayna is the daughter of Greg and Fiona Norton.  She is in the 9 th grade and has cheered for 3 years.
