Becca & Tessa send the Lady Royals to Semi-Finals
Seniors Becca Calloway and Tessa Hendricks combined to hit 17 of 19 free-throws in the the game. The Jay Lady Royals basketball team moved to the semi-finals of the District 2 tournament Tuesday night with a win over the Northview Chiefs 36-24. It was a very close game for 3 quarters until Jay pulled ahead in the 4th.
Northview came out strong in the 3rd and scored 16 points but Jay refused to quit and was able to take the lead with a big 3 point shot by Olivia Wright. Jay’s strong offense performed in the fourth quarter out scoring the Chiefs 16-6. The Lady Royals will advance to the next round and face Baker High School on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 pm in the Jay High Gym. A win against Baker will clinch the team a spot in the regional play-offs. Tessa Hendricks led the scoring with 13 points, hitting 11 of 13 free- throws and Becca had 11 points and was 6 for 6 at the line.
