Man Wanted For Hitting Elderly Homeowner In The Head With Hammer

Escambia deputies are looking for a Pensacola man that struck an elderly homeowner in the head several times during a burglary. George Manuel Eddins Jr. (pictured below), is wanted for Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Burglary with Battery and Aggravated Battery on Person 65 Years of Age or Older.
The charges stem from an incident on January 21, 2012 when the victim, Archie Lucas, was in bed and observed someone walk into an adjacent bedroom of his home. Lucas grabbed a hammer and confronted the suspect, later identified as Eddins. A struggle ensued and Lucas struck the suspect with the hammer. The suspect was then able to take the hammer away from Lucas and strike him multiple
times on his head and body. Eddins then pulled out a knife and attempted to cut Lucas. Lucas was able to close the knife on Eddins’ hand before he was cut. They continued to fight inside the house until Lucas was able to flee out his front door to a neighbor’s house.
Eddins fled the scene and was unable to be located that night. Lucas was transported to a local hospital for treatment for the trauma to his head.

During the investigation, information was obtained identifying Eddins as the suspect. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.  Anyone who knows the whereabouts of George Manuel Eddins Jr., is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office @ 850.436.9620 or Crime Stoppers @ 850.433.STOP (7867).
