Jaguars Reel In a Big Time Win Over Baker
The Central Jaguars played host to rival Baker Monday night, Jan. 23. The Jaguars played solid defense to contain the Gators in the second half and won 45-44. Coach Tony McDonald said, “sometimes it pays to be lucky, their best free throw shooters missed, and Zac Wright brought in a big time offensive rebound and scored with 4.4 seconds left in the game.”
The Jaguars were down 25-32 at the half and came out in the third quarter with a great defensive stand. They were talking on defense and outscored Baker 10-6. Baker came back at the start of the fourth stalling the ball. Two minutes into the fourth no shot was even attempted. The Jaguars started pressing the guards and were able to stop the outside shooting and came away with some big rebounds.
As the clock wound down Central was behind by one. With a pass from Nick Waters to Dalton Wright for the long shot, when that went long and on a high rebound his brother, Zac brought it in and scored pushing the Jags to the win. On a night when every point was needed the Jaguars used teamwork to capture the win.
Scoring for the Jaguars were: Gavin Richardson 16 points, Zac Wright 12 points, Nick Waters 8 points, Bryce Korski 6 points, and Dalton Wright 3 points.
