Free AARP Tax Preparation @ Your Library
Now that the holiday decorations are packed away, it’s time to think about the looming tax deadline on Apr. 17 (that’s two extra days to file this year!) Three locations in the Santa Rosa County Library System are once again AARP Tax-Aide Sites. The AARP Tax-Aide program is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, providing service to millions of low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older.
The AARP Tax-Aide program offers free one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare and file basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and other standard schedules. No appointment is necessary; however, service is on a first come, first serve basis. Library locations are equipped to file your return electronically, allowing you to receive your return much faster.
Free AARP Tax-Aide Preparation at Milton , Navarre , and Gulf Breeze Libraries begins in February:
- Gulf Breeze Library on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Milton Library on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Navarre Library on Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Service will not be held on county holidays. Check the library events calendar to see when service begins at each location or call your local library for more information at 981-7323 .
You can also visit the Santa Rosa County Library System home page at www.santarosa.fl.gov/libraries to link to 2011 Tax Year Information, including commonly used tax forms and the AARP Tax Preparation Web Site. Visit the library until Apr. 30 for a limited selection of tax forms. Once supplies have run out, you can print forms at the library for a charge of $.15 per page – or visit www.IRS.gov to download or print forms; links are available to forms at the library website.
