Road Closed – Garcon Point Road from Robinson Pt to Mary Kitchens
Garcon Point Road will be closed except to local traffic from Robinson Point Road south to Mary Kitchens Road starting January 17th for 30 days. As a continuation of drainage system repair work, a segment of Garcon Point Road from Robinson Point Road south to Mary Kitchens Road will be closed Jan. 17 until approximately Feb. 15. All local residents will have full access to their homes. The detour for all other traffic is Mary Kitchens Road to Avalon Boulevard .
The drainage system repair work is in preparation for the Garcon Point Road widening and resurfacing project. The road was closed in November for several weeks. Repair work will be done in phases due to several drainage culverts requiring replacement. Subsequent closures in the spring are anticipated. Funding for the widening and resurfacing project has been provided by a grant through the Florida Department of Transportation Small County Outreach Program. The cost of the project is approximately $852,837, with the FDOT funding 75 percent of the project.
The public is reminded to exercise extreme caution at all times. Even when workers are not present, the area will have additional signs, barricades and parked equipment as a visual reminder.
