Upcoming Star -Dakota Gregory
Dakota Gregory, a student at Central School and racecar driver. Dakota is the son of Todd Waston (Chumuckla), Twyla Tolbert (Chumuckla) and Nelson Gregory (Henager, AL). He has five brothers and sisters, they are Kayla Wilson, Krista Boughton, Micah Owens, and Jusitin and Joshua Gregory. His grandparents are Myra Watson and the late Curt Watson, Evelyn Dean and the late “Dino” , Jane Gregory and the late Jimmy Gregory.
Dakota began racing at the age of 11 ½ years. His first car was a Bomber dirt car at Southern Raceway in East Milton. Now he races in the Street Stock Division at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, Alabama. Dakota loves, “the adrenaline, the speed, the thrill of fighting for the checkered flag”.
He feels that his greatest achievement is winning the 2011 Street Stock Champion at Flomaton Speedway . Dakota earned 699 points to take the lead this year. He has had several races where he placed second to Calvin Cook, and that is always considered a “win” in Dakota’s book. Dakota has not had any formal training, just hard driving his dirt bike and 4 wheeler around the house. The average age of the drivers Dakota competes against is around 35. He is performing exceptionally for a driver his age.
Dakota has help with his racing with the support of the Car Owner, dad, Todd Watson, his Crew Chief – Mr. Bud Rodgers, and sponsors – Don Dean Land Clearing, Foam Seal Insulation and various others.
During the off season Dakota likes to hunt, fish and play basketball. He is currently on the Central Varsity Basketball team. Dakota is anxiously waiting for the next season of Racing to begin.
