Fatality in Berrydale Crossroad Accident-updated
Updated: Michael Cale 40 of Milton lost his life Saturday, Dec. 3, at approximately 9 a.m., in a two vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 87 N and Highway 4 in Berrydale.
Witnesses say a family from Milton driving a late model Ford Expedition was hit in the driver’s side by William Bray, of Jay, driving a Ford F150. Witnesses added that the truck had stopped at the stop sign and pulled into the pathway of the north bound SUV.
According to the Florida Hwy Patrol the passengers riding in the SUV were Marsha Cale, Courtney Cale, Dominique Cale, Ethan Cale, and Brandon Nicholson. According to FHP, Michael, Dominique and Ethan were ejected from the vehicle. Mr. Cale was pronounced dead at the scene by Life Guard EMS.
The 10 year old male child was air lifted to Sacred Heart Hospital immediately following the accident.
The Berrydale Fire Department was the first emergency responders on the scene. Witnesses and residents of the small community reported that the intersection has become “more dangerous” than ever by the installation of large cement posts.
One witness stated “there is a certain small area that if your automobile is located directly behind it (the post) you cannot see the oncoming vehicles.”
