Central Ladies take 2 from the Hobos

The Lady Jaguars captured a district win against Laurel Hill Hobos Thursday night 41-29.  The Lady Jags battled in the first to get ahead and then maintained that lead the entire game.  The Hobos were successful in keeping lead scorer, Makayla Simmons from the basket in the first quarter but the Jaguars slipped Brittney Forsythe in under the goal to capture the lead with 3 quick baskets . Coach Keristen Wright was proud of the girls’ efforts, their defense and the teamwork they displayed.  The team still has to work on turnovers and tweak a few things.

Scoring for the Lady Jaguars were: Makayla Simmons -14, Brittney Forsythe – 8, Sarah Forsythe – 8, Natelie Jernigan -4, Myranda Jernigan -4, and Hayleigh Padgett -3.

The Junior Varsity also won against the Hobos 23-13.  “Our defense won us the game, and once the shooting started falling, it was contagious” , stated Coach Nick Golden.  He was proud of all the girls and the strong effort from Sylvia Balk on offense and Sarah Bone on defense.  All of the points for Laurel Hill came from their very tall post player B. Zessin.  The Jaguars double teamed her the entire game to prevent her from dominating under the goal.

Scoring for the Jr. Lady Jags were: Haley Gauthier -6, Sylvia Balk – 6, Sarah Smith – 4, Sarah Bone -4, and Tyler Smith -3.
