Mavis Mauldin
Mavis peacefully passed on to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, during the evening hours of November 18th, 2011. She was born to the late Wiley W. Scott and Easter Ellen Bass and spent her early childhood years in the Slocum, Al area. In the mid-1950’s, Mavis met and married the love of her life, Loyd Mauldin. Mavis could be described as very strong woman that was kind, loving, and hard working. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved spending time with her family and friends, fishing and gardening. Mavis will be remembered as an excellent cook by all who loved her; often spending countless hours preparing a “Southern style” feast for her children and grandchildren to enjoy. She always had a garden for all seasons, working tirelessly to plant, gather and grow most of the foods she put on the table.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her surviving half-brothers, Buddy and Gerald Scott, and half-sister Ruby Lail, her children, Erlene C. Henderson, Voncille C. Crews (Joe), Jean C. Watson (Kenneth), Joe Cook (Denise), Ann C. Davis (Jim), and Murl C. Faircloth (Ross). She was affectionately known as “Granny Mauldin” to all of her surviving grandchildren, Tami Boutwell Brown (Steve), Belynda Boutwell Cook (Jim), Jeff Boutwell, Mark Dooley (Sonja), Mike Dooley , Kimberly Watson Chambless (Chris), Andriea Watson, Jamie Watson Mattina (Rodney), Joey Cook (Ashley), Donna Cook Marien (Michael), Andy Lee, Chad Faircloth (Melissa), and Lori Faircloth Simpson (Chris). She was also blessed with the love and affection of her 23 great-grandchildren.
