4th Annual HOPE Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness
A huge crowd braved the cool temperatures to participate in the 4th annual HOPE Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness, Saturday, Oct. 22. The event, which got underway at 8 a.m., at the Jay United Methodist Church, hosted community members who have been affected by breast cancer or have a desire to participate in helping to find a cure for the disease. The walkers wound through the downtown area and finished the walk at the church. Following the walk, the group joined in the fellowship hall to enjoy guest speaker Janice Davis, a breast cancer survivor who shared her story and words of appreciation and encouragement to everyone who participated. Davis credited her belief in God as the reason she got through her breast cancer challenge – as well as other challenges in her life. Door prizes were given away following the speaker and a breakfast followed for everyone. For those who were unable to attend this event but would like to show their support for breast cancer, the annual Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk will be held in Pensacola, Cordova Mall, next Saturday, October 29 at 8 a.m.
